a very close family member of mine was diagnosed with neck cancer about 2 years ago, it always makes his voice sound like he has strep throat, anyway he gets alot of morphine in both liquid and pill form. ive had his morphine for my own pain and 2 30 mg tablets barely helped, my other relative gave me oxycodone and 1 pill worked 50 times better than 2 pills of morphine, so i wonder my my relative with cancer doesnt use oxy instead.

What is the truth about cancer pain?
I have read many stories about ppl dying from cancer and some say they have watched their loved ones die an agonising death. It's very discouraging and sad to hear especially for ppl who are diagnosed with cancer. I get terrified by this. My doctor told me that if a patient was dying from cancer that they would not suffer pain because they would be heavily medicated. What is the truth or are all cancers different? If someone is going to die from the disease...do they need suffer?I have also read about ppl dying peacefully from cancer.
What's the best pain medication for cancer pain?
Well my dad has stage four prostate cancer and it's in his bones. He has had radiotherapy which helped but it has come back and now he is in pain pretty much all the time and can't lie flat on his back as that is agony. He is currently in hospital and all they give him is paracetamol and some morphine which he has been taking for months and is losing effectiveness.Can anyone suggest a good pain killer for him? He has severe back pain. Why won't they give him adequate pain control at the hospital? You always read " no one with cancer should have to endure pain as there is pain medication that can make them comfortable" so are the people at our hospital just morons? Sorry for being insulting, but it seems like they do nothing and it really makes me mad.I have heard Fentanyl is good do they prescribe that often? It seems all they ever want to give you is Morphine but it's not helping and Fentanyl I have heard is much much stronger. So what do I have to do to get him on better pain meds? Thanks.Oh yeah I know we can't buy anything for him ourselves, I just need something that will work to suggest to his doctors. Or a way to make them give him something stronger without screaming at them Barb he's already had radiation a while back to two different spots so I don't think he can have it again, it did help a lot at the time but has come back again.
Secondary bone cancer & pain: what do I ask my Dr. For when the hydrocodone (10/325) stops working?
I have late stage prostate metastasized secondary bone cancer and have been able to regulate my pain with moderate doses of Norco at night 1 2 10mg pills . Two days ago, I began experiencing excruciating pain in my spine lower and hip that sent me to the ER. unfortunately, I am told that ER doctors cannot prescribe schedule II meeds, but the ER doc helped as much as he could, but it's not enough morphine derived nasal analgesic, naproxen, fentanyl 3 day patch dosage unknown , hydrocodone 10 325 . What should I ask my doctor for next?
